Rethinking Happiness: Alone Doesn’t Mean Unhappy

Society insists that happiness depends on being surrounded by friends, a partner, and family. We are told that solitude is something to avoid, that without a constant social network, we cannot be truly well. But not everyone fits that model. Some people find peace and fulfillment in their own space, without the need for constant company.

It’s not about rejecting others but understanding what truly makes us happy. For some, constant companionship is essential, but for others, the tranquility of a more independent life is what really works. There is no single formula. The important thing is not to force yourself down a path just because society says so.
