The Weight of Perfection

When we tell someone they are perfect for us, we may place an unnecessary weight on their shoulders. That person can feel they must always live up to that expectation and stay under the pressure of never failing. It is a compliment that, while it sounds nice, can become a burden that creates stress and fear of disappointing.

What matters is not that someone is perfect, but that they fit with you as they are, with virtues and flaws. Accepting their humanity avoids disappointment and builds a more real relationship. Perfection is not about never making mistakes, but about being able to be yourself without fear of losing your place in the other person’s life.
