Facing The Insignificance Of Your Existence

Death means nothing. There is no punishment, no reward, no justice. Everything we consider important, our achievements, our emotions, our grudges, is irrelevant to the universe. Past, present, and future are an illusion, everything unfolds in a flow that does not stop for us. When we die, we cease to perceive, and with that, everything we thought we were disappears. Nothing is lost, because nothing truly belongs to us.

The final blow is that life owes us nothing either. All our ego, our fears, and obsessions are dust before the indifference of the cosmos. The world continues unchanged: days pass, trees grow, people laugh. We are not necessary, we are not special. Taking one’s own existence seriously is absurd. Dying does not erase anything because nothing was truly ours. The only thing left is to understand this and to observe everything with the same indifference the universe has always shown toward us.
