Seeing Beyond Ourselves

We live surrounded by stories of injustice and suffering that we see but do not acknowledge. We pass by, ignore, justify, or normalize what happens to others. It is a human reaction that protects us from discomfort, but it also makes us responsible for maintaining situations that could change. Recognizing it is the first step to stop being blind to what does not directly affect us.

The question is how to transform that indifference into action. Heroism is not required, only the willingness to pay attention, listen, and respond concretely. Changing the way we look at others can lay the foundation for fairer societies. Conscious attention to what happens outside our immediate circle is not just ethical, it is practical: it allows us to build environments where the suffering of some does not become routine for all.
